An egregore of capitalistic desire that exists to perpetuate the pre-millennial zeitgeist of suburban America, embodied in the abandoned shopping centers throughout the nation.

At the end of the year 1999, the malls of America revolted. Discontent with whatever bland future they perceived on the horizon, they abandoned the ever-changing human race and contorted themselves into a form which could remember the 80s and 90s in perpetuity. The pop culture contained within the malls mutated into strange - and powerful - new forms. Unable to survive the awesome forces of a consumer culture unfettered by any consumer, humanity fled the malls.

But humanity didn't stay away for long. The strange artifacts recovered from the malls were unique, sometimes seemingly impossible, and often very valuable. And soon, the methods for surviving the malls were discovered. The mall is a realm of radical coolness - to conquer it, you must be just as cool. And so a new kind of treasure hunter was born:
