Level 7: Keep Hanging On, Make A Vow
1: Bro Code
Make a vow. This should be fairly specific and something you could conceivably fail at – “I will uphold justice” or “I will be merciful” aren’t great vows, but “I will never damage an old car” or “I will not kill” are. When you uphold your vow at cost to yourself, you gain 1d4 Hang In There points. If you break a vow, you lose a random other GALLANT ability until the next time you sleep.
1: Hang In There
You have a pool of Hang In There points that resets to twice your GALLANT LEVEL after sleeping. There is no maximum to the points you can have, but if you have more than twice your GALLANT LEVEL points the excess will be lost after sleeping. You can pat someone (including yourself) on the back and expend any number of Hang In There points to heal them 5 HP per point spent.
1: The Touch
Choose a type of damage when you get this ability (for example: fire, electricity, slashing, or rotting). When you damage something with a weapon, you can have the target take 2 additional damage as if it were affected by the chosen damage type.
3: Righteous Steed
The skateboard from your starting equipment is magic, and returns to you while you sleep if it is lost or destroyed, including if you already lost it. It functions as if under its own power. You may also use your faithful steed as a medium weapon. It won’t mind.
5: Heroic Entrance
When you are not wearing your full armor and do not visibly have your righteous steed, you may designate yourself as unrecognizable to anyone who only sort-of knows you. In combat, you may designate everyone else as targets of diminished import by dramatically donning your helmet or drawing your righteous steed. For at least the actions immediately after revealing your identity, enemies will target you in lieu of your allies.
7: Keep Hanging On
If an ally within 10 feet fails a CHECK to avoid danger, you can expend a Hang In There point to jump in the way of the danger and have it effect you instead. Any CHECKs made to resist that danger are rerolled using your DEFENSE.
